Number 5 was the Hosedrawn Gypsy Caravan. This model has been found with any combination of yellow, orange, red, green and blue roof paired up with a body in any of these colours so there are numerous variations, The horse shafts are usually painted red but have been seen in light grey, The spoked diecast metal wheels are painted black or red but other colour may exist, The horse is a smaller casting than the previous issues, It is normally light brown. Number 6 was the Horsedrawn Milk cart, Normal colours for this one is either a yellow or a blue cart fitted with red wheels being pulled by a brown horse but has also been seen with a white horse, The model originally came with two seperately die cast milk churns which were later cast into the milk cart body. It also comes with a die cast Milkman figure painted in white with flesh coloured face and hands. Value approximately £20-£30 |
Number 7 was the "Express Dairy" Electric Milk trolley which was usually found in the Express Dairy livery of blue with white crates. It had three die cast metal wheels and a blue tiller and came with a white Milkman with flesh tones to the face and hands. In the livery of Unigate was an orange version which is much rarer although it did retain the Express Dairy lettering to the trolley. I can remember riding on the roof of one of these when Dad drove it on his milkround. I was about 4 years old which would make it about 1961. Value approximately |
Number 8 was the Foden timber tractor which consisted of a Foden tractor unit in red with black chassis and mudguards with a yellow trailer and a piece of wooden dowell for the log load, The drawbar and wheels are usually unpainted metal, It has also been seen in green and black painted Foden with a red trailer and other colours probably exist.
