Benbros "TV Series" and "Mighty Midgets" 37-40

Number 37 was the Police Car which was based on the Wolseley 6/80. It was a one piece body casting with an attached baseplate which included the front bumper and bell in the casting. The roof of the police car had lights or sirens cast in which along with the bumpers, grille and headlights were trimmed in silver, It was usually painted black but has also been seen in a chrome plated finish with a red painted roof, Unpainted metal and black plastic wheels were both used for this model. This one also gets mistaken for the Morestone version which has the roof lights/sirens as an added on part.

Value approximately £30-£40

Number 38 was the Ambulance which I believe was based on a Daimler as was the very similar Lesney version, The Benbros ambulance had a one piece body casting with a riveted on baseplate, The wheels were metal which are usually painted in the body colour along with the axles meaning that the model was fully assembled before being painted, The body colours are off white or cream and can be found with or withour a red cross decal applied to the roof, To complete the model it was given silver trim the the headlights and grille. It was also released as an Army ambulance in military green with black plastic wheels.

Value approximately £30-£40
Army version £40-£50

Number 39 was the Milk Delivery Van which was a Bedford CA with an open back similar to the Lesney version. The body was cast in one piece as was the baseplate which included the crates load as part of the casting, The base and crates were painted white and the body is usually painted red or orange which is the livery of the Unigate dairy but other colours may exist, Silver trim was applied to the bumper, grille and headlights, The model is usually found with black plastic wheels but early issues had white painted metal wheels, Both of my examples have very large flat head axles which appear to be unique to this model.

Value approximately £30-£40

Number 40 was the American Ford Convertible which was a one piece body casting with a riveted basplate which had the bumpers cast in as part of the baseplate, The wheels are usually unpainted grey metal but black plastic wheels may also have been used. The grille, headlights, rear fins and the windscreen frame were trimmed in silver, The body has been seen painted in red, in orange, in green and in blue and other colours were probably used too.

Value approximately £35-£45
