Benbros "TV Series" and "Mighty Midgets" 46-50 |
Number 46 was the Articulated Bedford Petrol Tanker which was the Bedford tractor unit paired up with a new tanker body, The tanker body can be found with or without "Esso" decals, Although this one is usually found with red cab & red tanker it has been seen in other colours, It had silver trim to the grille and headlights and is usually found with black plastic wheels or metal wheels on the early issues. Value approximately £60-£70 |
Number 47 was the Bedford Articulated lowside wagon which was another Bedford cab with a new casting of a lowside or dropside trailer, Early issues had unpainted metal wheels which were later replaced by black plastic wheels and silver trim was applied to the grille, headlights and bumper. Red and blue cabs and light brown, red or blue trailers have been seen and other colours probably exist. Value approximately £60-£70 |
Number 48 was the Articulated Bedford Chain lorry which was a Bedford cab paired up with a chainside trailer, I have seen this one with a green cab and light brown trailer with black plastic wheels, I dont know if it was ever fitted with metal wheels but it probaby was. It had the usual silver trim to the headlights and grille. Value approximately £60-£70 |
Number 49 was the Karrier Bantam Coca Cola truck which was a one piece casting without a baseplate just like the Lesney 37a which it often gets mistaken for. The Benbros has "Made in England" cast into the cab roof and comes with black plastic wheels, I have only seen this model in yellow with silver trim to the grille and headlights, It was enhanced with "Coca Cola" decals to the headboard and to the back like the Lesney but these may also be found with only a partial set of the decals applied like the one shown here. Value approximately £50-£60 |
Number 50 was the RAC (Royal Automobile Club) Land Rover which was another casting of the 34 AA Land Rover with the sides modified by having "RAC road service" cast in, I'm assuming it was dark blue like the RAC Motorcycle because I have never actually seen this model not even a photograph so I don't know what type of wheels were fitted but I would imagine they were blue painted metal wheels like those found on the other Land Rover models and it would have had silver trim to the grille and headlights. Value approximately £100-£150+ ???? |
