Benbros "TV Series" and "Mighty Midgets" 41-45

Number 41 was the Army Hudson Tourer which was basically a re coloured number 18 civillian Hudson. The paint was in military green and it had silver trim to the headlights and grille, The wheels were usually military green metal but black plastic may also have been used. Note that the paint appears to be camoflaged in the photos but I think this is just that the paint is discoloured or maybe it was done by a previous owner.

Value approximately £30-£40

Number 42 was the Army Dispatch Motorcycle and Sidecar, This one is painted military green all over with unpainted metal wheels and a flesh colour was hand applied to the riders face, The casting used for my example is a recoloured number 3 AA motorcycle and sidecar but this model can also be found using the casting from the number 29 RAC set on which the sidecar has a rounded front end which may or may not have the carrier added to the toolbox lid.

Value approximately £45-£55

Number 43 was the Articulated Bedford Box Van, This model has unpainted metal wheels or more commonly black plastic wheels and sometimes has yellow and black "Dunlop" decals applied, It had silver trim to the grille, headlights and front bumper and has been found in many different colour combinations. The Bedford tractor unit often gets mistaken for the Lesney 27a version and the easiest way to tell them apart is that the Lesney Bedford has silver trimmed fuel tanks cast in on the sides and the Benbros has none.

Value approximately £60-£70

Number 44 was the Bedford Articulated low loader, This model used the same tractor unit from the previous issue paired up with a new casting of the low loader trailer, Early issues of the trailer had a hinged tailboard but later issues had the tailboard removed and later still the crane from the number 33 was added to the trailer. It can be found with unpainted metal wheels or black plastic wheels, The only colours I have seen are of a red tractor unit with a blue trailer but other colours almost certainly exist.

Value approximately £60-£70

Number 45 was the Articulated Bedford log carrier which used the Bedford cab from the previous issue paired up with a low loader trailer which was similar to the Lesney 27a but had the addition of a log carrying rest added on, A short piece of dowel was carried as the log load. The tractor unit had silver trim to the grille, headlights and bumper. I have only seen blue or light brown painted trailers but I believe the cab came in many different colours with unpainted metal wheels or black plastic wheels.

Value approximately £60-£70
