PLEASE NOTE: I will no longer be altering the variation codes. All new discoveries will be inserted in to their correct place in the timeline and given a suffix.
So a new variation that would be nearest to variation 4 would become the new 4a, etc.

Moko Lesney Matchbox 41b Jaguar D type

The second version of the Lesney D type Jaguar replaced the earlier model in the Matchbox 1-75 series in 1960, This version measured 62mm long and was painted the same colour scheme as the earlier issue which was British racing green, it had a gloss black baseplate and was usually found with #41 decals but sometimes a #5 and very rarely the red #6 decal from the Y6-2 yesteryear Bugatti were used.
A brown painted diecast driver was fitted but not very securely so they can often be missing.
Early issues were fitted with grey plastic wheels on dome head axles with rounded ends but one issue was fitted with crimped axles some time after they were phased out.
Soon Lesney brought out their diecast wire wheels with black plastic tyres which looked really good on this model and finally a late issue was fitted with red hubs and black plastic tyres.

There were several casting variations, The baseplate originally had two ridges on the bottom, one beside each axle, later the front ridge was smoothed off and later still the one at the rear was smoothed.
The body originally had an open grille but it was soon cast closed,
The body also had some modification to the inside on the rivet posts but this is very difficult to see, firstly the rivet posts were cast with two triangular braces to the front & rear of each post, this was later changed when two additional triangular braces were added to the sides of each post, finally the side braces were widened and squared off, see the photo section for details.

The regular model with 41 decals and grey plastic or wire wheels is fairly common, the one with an open grille is not so easy, the model with #5 decals is hard to find as is the red hubbed issue but the rarest is the model fitted with red #6 decals which is rarely seen.

The Jaguar was packaged in 'B', 'C' and 'D' type boxes, it was deleted in 1965 to make way for the 41c Ford GT40.
