The Lesney model of the Atlantic Trailer joined the Matchbox 1-75 series in 1960,
This one was longer than the previous trailer which it replaced and it had eight wheels and a fixed rear ramp, The earlier trailer was a six wheeler and it had a lifting ramp at the rear.
The first issue of the eight wheeled trailer had kept to the same colour scheme as the previous model which was a light brown or tan,This was soon changed to orange and the shades of the paint can vary from bright to dull orange,
It always had dome head axles with rounded ends and was usually fitted with 7.5 x 18 grey or black plastic wheels but there was a short run fitted with 8 x 18 grey plastic wheels which is quite rare and seldom seen.
The tow hitch was made from a wire bent to the correct shape and located in two holes in the front wheel carriers,
It could be painted in brown, Orange, Black or left in unpainted metal,
It is not one of the most common models so it can't have been a very good seller so it is not common and the orange versions fitted with grey wheels are quite rare,
It was packaged in 'B', 'C' and 'D' type boxes,
After only four years in the range it was replaced by the 16c scammell snow plough.
