Matchbox Models of Yesteryear Y-64 1938 Lincoln Zephyr

The Y64-1 1938 Lincoln Zephyr joined the range in 1992, It had a chrome plated baseplate which included the bumpers, It also had a chromed grilles, bonnet mascot and headlights which had seperate clear plastic lenses attached. The underside had a black plastic molding which formed the propshaft, front & rear axles and radius rods. It had a brown plastic interior with a single siver clock and a cream steering wheel with brown spokes, The model was not replaced or deleted but no further releases of the Y-64 Lincoln were issued.

Above: The first version had a cream painted body with a cream plastic tonnau, The running boards were black plastic and it had silver detailing to the bonnet side vents, door handles, petrol filler cap and body line, The bonnet side vents and tail lights were picked out in red, The model also featured licence plates but the "UK 92" looks decidedly unauthentic. I have seen this issue listed as being pink and offered at a premuim on ebay but I don't know if this is a genuine variation but my example certainly has a pink tinge to it.

Above: I believe that the chrome plated push fit wheels were newly introduced just for this model. They were fitted with black plastic tyres with a whitewall which on the whole looked quite realistic.

Above: The model was recoloured to plum red with a white tonnau, The interior appears to be a slightly lighter brown and the black running boards were replaced by silvered running boards. There are no rare variations.
