Matchbox King-Size No.K-8 Caterpillar Traxcavator
|
The Lesney Matchbox King-Size K-8 Caterpillar Traxcavator replaced the Guy Warrior Car Transporter in 1970, The first version was painted yellow all over and it had yellow plastic rollers with green rubber tracks, The hydrosleeves were black plastic and it had a blue driver with a flesh coloured face, This is the hardest version to find. The second version had a yellow body with an orange shovel and lifting arms and a blue & flesh coloured driver, The rollers can be yellow, pale orange or black plastic with green rubber tracks, The final version was sold in a 'Big MX' set and the body was recoloured to silver with orange shovel and lifting arms with a blue & flesh driver, The rollers and tracks were both black. On this version the lifting arms were modified so it did not have the hydrosleeves fitted. The model was packaged in F type boxes with a header card. It was replaced by the Animal Transporter in 1980.
