Matchbox King-Size No.K-19 Scammell Contractor Tipper Truck
|
The Lesney Matchbox King-Size K-19 Scammell Contractor Tipper Truck joined the range in 1967. It had a red body & chassis with an orange-yellow or lemon-yellow tipper, The baseplate was silver plated and included the front bumper and headlights and the steps below the doors as part of the casting, It had a silver plated air horns on the roof and it has a red grille. The doors also had a label or decal displaying a white triangle in a white circle and the wheel hubs were red plastic fitted with black plastic tyres, There were variations of the model number on the baseplate and although I don't have full details of them I believe the baseplate can be found without a number, with the number 10/19 or with number 19. Of course it was fitted with the usual 'Hydrosleeve' which would hold the tipper body in the raised position. It was packaged in F type boxes that are with or without header card, The model was converted to superfast wheels in 1970/71 and the body was recoloured to metallic red, This version could have a red or black grille and was not deleted until 1979.
