Matchbox King-Size No.K-12 Scammell Mobile Crane
|
1969 saw the new Lesney Matchbox King-Size K-12 Scammell Mobile Crane join the range, It was painted yellow and it had red plastic wheel hubs with black plastic tyres, The interior was white plastic and the cab featured clear plastic windows while the crane cab had green tinted windows which was probably to hide the fact that the crane cab actually had no interior. The crane cab could be rotated and sides of the crane were enhanced with two 'Laing' labels, The crane jib had a white plastic 'wire' attached to a unpainted metal hook and the jib could be raised and lowered and to hold the jib in the raised position it was fitted with a hydrosleeve which can be either red or black plastic, It was packaged in F type window boxes, In 1970/71 it was converted to superfast wheels and at the same time it was recoloured to orange, It was also released in a Big MX set where it was recoloured to silver body with orange crane. It was replaced by the Hercules Mobile Crane in 1975.
