Matchbox King-Size No.K-10 Aveling Barford Tractor Shovel
|
In 1963 the Lesney Matchbox King-Size K-10 Aveling Barford Tractor Shovel joined the range, It was only ever painted Turquoise but shades can vary and this colour is also known as 'sea green' by the collecting fraternity. The early issues had a seperately cast air filter mounted on the side of the body which was deleted on the later issues. The drivers seat and steering wheel were a dark red plastic and the hubs on the early issues were unpainted metal which were later changed for red plastic hubs, All models were fitted with black plastic tyres, Behind the rear wheels were a pair of 'hydrosleeves' which were a plastic tube with a tight fitting piston which was attached to the bucket lifting arm which would keep the bucket in the raised position, This was the first of many Matchbox toys to use hydrosleeves, No silver trim was used on this model but it was enhanced with red & white 'Aveling Barford' decals to the sides of the body and an Aveling Barford motif to the front. It was packaged in D and E type boxes and was replaced by the Pipe Truck in 1966.
