Matchbox King-Size No.K-1 Weatherill Hydraulic Shovel

Lesney Matchbox King-Size K-1 Weatherill Hydraulic Shovel was the first of the new Matchbox King-Size models to be released in 1960, This one was always painted yellow although the colour shades can vary, It had a seperately cast shovel and arms which were attached by an axle pin which allowed the shovel to be raised. It also had silver trim applied to the grille at the front, The wheels were black painted metal fitted with grey plastic tyres. The very earliest models were released without any text cast in to the base which is quite a difficult variation to find and I think most collectors would probably class it as a pre-production model, It was packaged in a C type box which show a line drawing of the model or later issues were in a D type box which had a full colour illustration of the model. Apart from the version without text to the baseplate it is a fairly common model that is not to hard to find. It was deleted in 1963 to make way for the Tipper Truck.
