Not sure about a record but still a top price. I remember a green 5a selling back in 2006 for 7500 GBP - I wonder what the highest actually is?matchboxmarcel wrote:NEW RECORD FOR A REGULAR WHEEL, 5200 GBP hammerprice !, just sold.
I think it is still the green 5a at £7500hydra427 wrote:Not sure about a record but still a top price. I remember a green 5a selling back in 2006 for 7500 GBP - I wonder what the highest actually is?matchboxmarcel wrote:NEW RECORD FOR A REGULAR WHEEL, 5200 GBP hammerprice !, just sold.

I thought about bidding on that as well but don't like the fact that it had color touch on some of the chips. I think it went fairly reasonable though.matchbox_n_molars wrote:Drat! I wanted to bid on that yellow 15A and forgot all about it! The search goes on.
I remain unconvined, and would rather have a beater I was happy with for half that sum (should one ever turn up and should I ever have that kind of money avaialable - neither of which is particularly likely to happen!).nickjones wrote:So it was bid up to £5200 by at least two bidders that were at Vectis and they examined the model to their satisfaction,
A few months ago 2 more Magirus Cranes were sold at Vectis for record prices. One with orange boom and one with red boom, both were pictured on the cover of the catalogue.kwakers wrote:The highest priced regular wheel sold that I had heard of was a Mint 30B Crane sold out of a U.S. collection for 10K. That green 5A Bus at 7500 Pounds has that one beat with today's exchange rates. Where is that pound sign on these cheap Yank keyboards anyway?
The flat sided green 20A in Numi's photo looks similar in (Lack of) quality to the 23 Trailer with window glaze shown in our early Lefora pictures. Could that have been from that online RW variation guide which used to be available with 2400+ RW variations in it Numi?? The ORIGINAL true source of that rare out of focus glazed Caravan picture was never determined by us back then, but I think it was used in that online-only collector guide years ago. It has true flat sides, the obvious bottom bed lines in that picture would have filled solid way before those horizontal lines if it was just a matter of a thick layer of green pre-pro paint. Nick gets a prize, and I missed this whole thread till tonight......
It is interesting that you have known of 3 of these Idris, I had only known of Phillip's single original, and also of that one's History of discovery now shared again here by Nigel.... ....The one that slipped right through his hands! kwakers
