Hello Brian! I wish you luck with your auctions and your operation next month. Thank You for alerting us and sending a link to the auction. I do have a question though. Why are the auction estimates so low on these lots of Lesneys? With tough boxes on some of the lots such as the 25 VW Beetle, it just seems that one Toy with box is worth what this auction company believes the whole lot may bring. Hopefully, you will get some pleasant surprises on some of your models offered here. Thanks Again, kwakers

I think spreading them over three different lots was a significant error of judgement. You would have done much better to have lumped them all together in one 'specialist' lot. Now collectors who are interested in the 41a and the 61a will have to buy models that they don't want/need in order to acquire them, something which can only result in lower prices.

Until the hammer falls, they're your property and yours to do with as you please. If the auction house refused to listen to your instructions, I would have had no hesitation whatsoever in taking my business elsewhere (but then I always have been a stroppy b*gger!).
If they won't listen to you and you're still keen on letting them auction the collection for you, then I would pull the 41a and 61a and stick them on Ebay instead.

I am glad the 65A was offered alone though Idris. I feel with it's unspun rivets and one odd wheel it is the gem of the lots. The loose base 41A has the decal circle, and the 61A seems stock with just the same loose base rivets also. I could be wrong though if Jason did not check these two?? I had interest in the 65A right from Brian's first post, and was in early contact with him about that gem. Brian had made his 'Auction' decision very early on without ever entertaining any private offers here to the best of my knowledge. Jason met Brian and held the 65A to check it's color and details, so he may not have had the interest in 'error' Lesneys that I do. (He has enough rare and very odd pre-pros already?? LOL
)
No crying from me, the 65A will now find a good home, and we Forum members are all given an equal opportunity by Brian to bid on his group of Lesneys.
Because this 65A is being sold by a British Auction house on your time with an 18 percent Buyers premium/VAT, I, as an unsophisticated Yank stranger to that House, may not be able to participate as I wanted to in it's sale. The odd tire on it gives this factory 'error'/ unfinished model an added value to an error collector like myself. There is the possibility however, that the auctioneer not disclosing that odd wheel publicly could bring some eventual problems with any serious Buyer who was not made aware of that in it's auction listing. The odd wheel is a very positive point to myself, but another collector may reject the model as 'improper'. Nick has openly stated such an odd wheel tends to lower a Lesney variation's value in his experience.
On the Auction Format: As a collector, I have never really understood why Auction Houses want to lump dis-similar Lesney toys together, but that is how most on your side run their sales. It does give the Auction House fewer lots to photo and write up, less paper work to do, and their disclosure of condition is kept very vague to say the least. Dealers then have an advantage over a collector who only requires one particular model in that lot, and any description of one model in a multi-car lot is virtually non-existent. The models ranging in condition from Good to Excellent in any given lot, and also the single picture presented of the models in a group is 'Not my cup of Tea' as some may say on your side. Again, I hope the sale is a huge success for Brian, it seems the right time of year right now for good prices.....kwakers
