It's interesting that the wheel rims and headlamps casting is unplated on these 'Anniversary' Y-15 models, confirming these were intended for staff at Lesney and not for any one outside the factory and it's clear Lesney did not mind taking time to create such special issues, long before the 'Promotional' model of the type we know today.

I had reason to check something on one of my Y-10 Silver Ghost models and took the opportunity to count them, I have 10 1st issue models, that is the metallic pale green over dark brown versions and for 'MY' collection only, they are coded from...

1: this is minus the front spring brace and only has one rear body seam. It has matching seat colours.
1A: as above but unmatched seat colours.
1B: now with the front spring brace.
1C:
1D:

and so on, until the last one with the large spare tyre carrier mounting block and Y-7 wheels and tyres.

I am desperately wanting to post pictures of these, but so far nothing is falling into place and the added problem of not being at home as much as I would like, has taken me away from my collection and while I have managed to take some 'Regular wheel' and 'Superfast' models to my Dad's house, I really can't take any more, it's not fare on him and I don't want them damaged because of them not being in their normal storage facility, sorry guys, I'm doing my best.

Hello Bob, a little note at the bottom of my 'Vintage British Made Diecast' screen says your now at the tender age of...57, there must be a technical hitch with the system, because the last time I saw you, I had you as just coming up to around 40, anyway, Happy Birthday whatever age you are...

'Sun Faded' models.

There are currently two 'Sun Fade' topics on the forum, one for the '1-75 series' usually meaning the 'Regular wheels' models and one for 'Modern Matchbox'. I considered a third topic for all our 'Yesteryears', but feel that members are fully aware of this on the plastic components used on these models, that I have simply added it here as a normal thread.

I don't think the issue is as important to warrant a new topic, as the subject has been covered before elsewhere, but if you feel it deserves it's own topic heading, them maybe it can be upgraded at a later date.

Right, so here is the first example of 'Sun Fade' on a 'Yesteryear'.

Y-10 Silver Ghost with brown seats.
This picture appears on Nick's guide page for these models and the original description with the picture mentions the author thought he had found a variation with brown seats, instead of the usual dark red-marroon coloured seats. but he then explains they are just 'Sun Faded' and in fact you can see that part of the rear seat has broken away because of how brittle the plastic has become.

At long last I can show you my 'Yesteryear' Collection. The best way I could think of showing all the models together was to take them out of the display cabinets and put them all together in some boxes, hope you like them.
