Re: Ghost Post!
OH NO! did you have to...
You know that these GHOST pictures you've just posted will be looked at by me so many times, I could wear out my PC!
Why couldn't you just say..."yes, I have got some Yesteryear Silver Ghosts" but no, you had to show them...
When I have looked at them in really close detail, I might, just might, come back and say..."yes, a fantastic collection"..or, I might just go away and sulk
Cheers YYS4BOB, I will enjoy those, see you later,
GHOSTHUNTER.

Re: Ghost Post!
OH! go on then, really make me feel sick.
It may take some time before I see the 'Giftware' models, because I have made my PC screen so large with the zoom function to fill it with just one of your GHOST models, it will probably brake and get stuck like it...
Post away then, I'm not looking...

Re: Ghost Post!
Just a taster then, as you insist, and I'm bored, as not able to get outside and do some proper work.

Hello YYS4BOB,
I don't know if your interested in these, but there are some interesting copies of 'Yesteryears' in the 'Matchbox copies' section, always worth a look.
See you later,
GHOSTHUNTER.

Re: Ghost Post!
This is specifically for "YYS4BOB", but if your also interested, then read on.
While with "YYS4BOB" at the Sandown Park toy fair, the discussion naturally turned to "Matchbox" and one of the subjects mentioned was the plated Y-15 Silver Ghost, but not the normal 'Giftware' version, but the 'Anniversary' version and I said to Bob that I had the model, but it was not on it's ceramic dish, (a specially shaped dish that I have not seen used again for any other 'plated' models) and I had not put a date of production for my example. Bob has one of these and it's on the special dish, (its in the picture above, posted by Bob, at the front,) and that only 150 of these were made, he quickly came back and said that 148 were made, I then said the other few must be the 'Gold' ones then, because I have pictures of a 'gold' one, again on it's green dish.
Bob then stated that they had bare metal wheel rims and I agreed with him, but now looking at the pictures of my example, I see that it has plated rims, but I know it is the proper anniversary issue and not just a 'Giftware' version, all the detail specification of the model pre-dates the 'Giftware' versions in my collection.
Shown below is my example, please have a look and air your views and if you have one, look at the rear boss at the back of the baseplate, it will be a domed design but drilled by hand for mounting onto the green ceramic dish.

"look at the rear boss at the back of the baseplate, it will be a domed design but drilled by hand for mounting onto the green ceramic dish."
This is not so. The car is attached to a green metal plate by one screw which is driven into the hole that accepts the spigot of the front seat. The plate is attached to the tray by another single screw.
There are no other holes in the baseplate. The dome at the rear is in tact.
I must have been tired (it had been an early start and a busy morning) as the base clearly states 150 silver examples!
There was a lot of discussion on these items on MOYBOYZ a while ago. I'll have a look for the posts if you're interested.
There are lugs on the plate behind the tyres. These stop the model spinning round on the single fixing.
These Wade trays were used for other early giftware.

Re: Ghost Post!
Thank's guys, knew Bob would have to go and look at his 'Anniversary' model and check out the details.
How facinating, so, Bob's is definately an 'Anniversary' model, no question about that and my model are still 1961 specification castings and pre-date the normal 'Giftware' models, because the rear domed boss was re-tooled to be flat just for the 'Giftware' range.
I had not noticed that Bob's model is siting on a green plate, pictures I have of another silver model show it on a black plate, (I should have corrected myself for implying the model was directly fixed to the dish, I knew all along the model was on a plate, then fixed to the dish, sorry Bob).
This begs the question of what was my model used for, if it is not an 'Anniversary' version. Did they have a problem with drilling the hole centrally on the rear domed boss and relocated the fixing point to nearer the centre of the model, as described by Bob on his example, its possible, because they were certainly assembled by hand and the hole on my example is not dead central, (have you tried drilling a hole on a something bulbous like the rear boss on Y-15!).
GHOSTHUNTER.
P.S. Thank's for the link Matchboxmarcel, but I cannot see anything when I click on the link, I have never been able to see anything on the 'MOYBOY' website, it just asks me to register and it has never allowed me to do this, with my normal e-mail or a new e-mail, so I have no idea whats on that site...
