Sorry I've not posted pictures up yet.
Sadly my dad passed away, so for obvious reasons I've been a bit pre-occupied. Bit gutted he never got to see their true value, but I don't think he would have minded too much. He was never interested in the money. I think it was just a nice bit of nostalgia for him.
I'll get pictures up later today if I have time, or if not hopefully by or on next weekend.

I did mean to ask if anyone knew of, or could recommend an auction house in or around Essex?

Sorry to hear that, but at least he didn't have to see some of his fondest childhood memories disappear out of the door for ever.

A collection of this quality and importance needs to go to a specialist diecast toy auction house. Anything else and you will almost certainly fail to realise their true value.

Arguably the top Diecast toy auction house is Vectis. They may have higher fees but routinely achieve the highest final bids and would no doubt be happy to send a representative to appraise your wonderful collection.

Maybe a little to good on some of them. There appear to be replacement tyres on the '30 Series' (un-riveted models), which is no bad thing, we replace tyres on our real cars! but the axles then look to clean for original period issued models, 1945 to early 1950's, so some repainting may have taken place, because once the axles are removed, bodies and fenders can easily be touched-up or fully re-painted. Models such as these need to be held 'In Hand' by the specialist collector to fully establish their status.
A visit to a toy fair is in order to get the views of a Dinky collector, but hold off selling on the first offer!
