I also wasn´t aware of this. I got a nice grey one today and compared it to the M9s i have. I will pick the best ones out and sell the others.

I will reduce my collection, because my display is full before i get an example of each modell ever produced. I will only keep the obvious variations like wheels and colors. I´m still waiting for an 4a Massey tractor, 8b caterpillar, 57a Wolesley and others, but i have 8 different 3b Bedford TK tippers :?

Have these slots have been punched or were they part of the casting?
I'm pretty sure they were punched. They look like they were punched and I've seen them to close to the front and off center too ... all of which would be errors when punching the hole.

I disagree with Joe (tinman)... I am pretty certain they are part of the base casting and as such are not punched out of the casting. From memory (I am at work) the REAR trailers have the slot cast at a different angle to the front slot on the FRONT trailers which should have a slot at the front and one at the rear for the trailer dolly...

Ian, i don´t think that there was a difference between front and rear trailer. It makes no sence, because they can be used in either position. All my trailers have a ca. 45° rear slot, all in the same direction. But as shown, there are a few different front slots.

Right, the same base was used for front and rear trailers. Actually, there is one one set of parts to make up a trailer and two of the same trailers make up the set.

The M2 trailers are the ones I most often see punched off center or two far forward. I had one where the hole was so far forward that only slight turns could be made because the trailer hit the back of the cab (or tractor).

You are quite right - my memory is not what it used to be (I was working and relying on memory when I responded) and it is the REAR slot on each base that is angled... I've just checked all 5 of my mint, boxed items and they ALL have the 90° front slot and 45° rear slot... at some stage when I get to re-find my unboxed items I'll check them too.

I'd say its two models put together to make one... I have never come across any "mixed" sets like that - I believe (but am not certain) that the blue door issues came first then the silver and grey versions - might pay to check for trailer casting differences as described HERE

My 4 Cooper-Jarrets have 3 colors of bogey/dolly: painted dark blue, painted silver and unpainted bare metal.
Is there any relation between the C-J versions and the dolly used?
Or is the type of dolly used random on all 4 'basic' versions of the C-J?
