I experimented with the idea of arranging the posts in one of the 'Casting Show' topics so they were in model number order but as soon as you leave the thread, they resort back to an order defined by last postings and member interaction. I could not see any way of locking them in a model number order so they stayed in order whenever members visited the thread or topics.

There is no way that I'm aware of for users to sort in this manner. I'm doubtful that even the admins could implement such a change. Perhaps I will do a trial run of my earlier photo index idea.
No harm in trying.

Certainly not. And I didn't think of the below suggestion.

I did a test: I set "display topics ordering by" to "subject" and "display topic order direction" to "ascending." This put K100A at the top, followed by K101 through K109. K110 through K119 came next, and so on and so forth. Using this manner of sorting, K1A showed up on page six. This doesn't seem the sort of numerical order that A-Man-Called-Bwian had in mind.

Unfortunately, as far as a computer is concerned, that is in alphanumerical order. (As previously pointed out, only if lower-numbered model threads have the leading zeros in their titles, e.g. K001a, would the sub-forum contents sort correctly (in human terms).
It may not be ideal, but at least the topics appear in a logical order, meaning that it is possible to find the thread you want relatively easily. (I actually use this function myself to search within the missing, previously-catalogued sub-forum).

While that may make perfect sense to the computer, it could potentially aggravate a human. I now think Dan (Brad Pittiful, that is) was really onto something with his idea to further partition Charlie P's Kings Corner. Sorting them out along the lines of King Size, Super Kings, Speed Kings, and Post-Lesney would work well, methinks. Perhaps photo indexes could also be added; this would be especially useful for any models that may have spanned the major transition.

I do not think it is confusing nor hard to search for any particular model the way the forum is currently set up. If the forum is sub-divided, then it will become impractical & perhaps confusing. Another thing is that one cannot divide the Kings/Superkings/Specials into sub-list without overlapping. There were Kings that transitioned into Superkings or Speedkings. There were Speedkings that transitioned into Superkings. The Specials are found under various names such as Alarm cars, Specials, Super GT Sport, Turbo Specials. L.A Wheels etc. In addition there are the SeaKings, BattleKings, Adventure 2000, Matchbox Military (MM series) Gold Collection Kingsize rigs & Modern era Superkings.

I made a list of all the known models that were released. All one needs to do is enter the K number followed by the designated alphabetical letter.
Sample taken from the kings/superkings/specials list (below). Ex. There were 3 models issued as K1, listed as A, B, & C. If one needs to look for the Hoveringham Tipper Truck, type K1B in the search area and the K1B post should come up; no need to enter the full name.

1) K1A Weatherill Hydraulic Shovel 1960 England
2) K1B Hoveringham Tipper Truck 1964 England
3) K1C O&K Excavator 1970 England
4) K2A Muir Hill Dumper 1960 England
5) K2B KW-Dart Dump Truck 1964 England
6) K2C Scammell Heavy Wreck Truck 1969 England
7) K2D Car Recovery Vehicle 1977 England
8) K3A Caterpillar Bulldozer 1960 England
9) K3B Hatra Tractor Shovel 1965 England
10) K3C Massey Ferguson Tractor & Trailer 1970 England
11) K3D Mod Tractor & Trailer 1974 England
12) K3E Grain Transporter 1981 England

Hope this was helpful.
