Request for separate forums.

Post by Brad Pittiful »

i see that charlie has a new separate forum for major packs...could his king size models get the same separate forum...searching through his superfast era kings is tedious...since there are many like the majors the king size would be so easy to look something up just like the majors...it would also lessen the amount overall for people searching the superfast era models
Please use a web hosting site (like photobucket) to store pictures so you can post them here, using attachments makes it hard to view the pictures when you have to scroll to see them. Seeing comparisons of models is hard to see with attachments too.

Dan, I'm not certain I understand what you're asking for. Charlie's King Size listing are already in a separate area, which can be searched and sorted (the latter using the controls at the bottom of the page).

Hugh , Dan

Part of the issue here when it comes to searching in ascending order is that numbers that you would normally assume to be on page 1 are actually on page 6 or later
This is due to the number of characters in the title of each subject, some of the codes are 6 characters long and a code like K1A needs to be K0001A, K0002A and so on or K0010a etc for them to be in sequence. ie some codes need to be preceded with 0 or multiple 00

to illustrate my point refer to my screen shot, note the search fields at bottom, the result and the current page number.

I think Dan is asking for K01 to K24 to be in one forum Kingsize RW forum

Super-King codes to be in another

SP codes to be in another and so on

Would breaking the listings down into e.g. k1 - 10, K11 - 20 etc., be any use?

Two questions:
1) Is the above list correct/complete, and
2) Do any other Members want this?

Kingsize models were discontinued around the 1969-1970 era. Some transitioned into the Superkings/Speedkings series,
besides having the wheels changed they also had the base designation changed to either Superkings or Speedkings.

The following models transitioned into the Superkings and/or Speedkings series:
3) K1C O&K Excavator 1970 England.
6) K2C Scammell Heavy Wreck Truck 1969 England.
15) K4C Leyland Tipper 1969 England
25) K7B S.D. Refuse Truck 1966 England
36) K10B Pipe Truck 1967 England
40) K11B DAF Car Transporter 1970 England
44) K12B Scammell Crane Truck 1970 England
52) K15A Merryweather Fire Engine 1971 England
54) K16A Dodge Tractor & Twin Tippers 1965 England
56) K17A Low Loader with Bulldozer 1966 England
58) K18A Articulated Horse Box 1967 England
60) K19A Scammell Tipper Truck 1967 England
62) K20A Tractor Transporter 1968 England
65) K21A Mercury Cougar 1968 England
69) K22A Dodge Charger 1968 England
72) K23A Mercury Police Car 1968 England
74) K24A Lamborghini Miura 1968 England

As far as I know these models were never issued as "Kingsize" but "Superkings".
19) K5C Muir Hill Tractor & Trailer 1972 England
22) K6C Cement Truck 1971 England
47) K13B DAF Building Transporter 1971 England
50) K14B Scammell Freight Truck 1971 England

29) K8C Caterpillar Traxcavator 1972 England although issued with a Kingsize desgination
only because it retained the base of the K3A Caterpillar Bulldozer.

The list looks pretty complete to me. The forum works well for me as it is...provided I know the number of the model whose thread I wish to view. Though it would probably be a massive undertaking, I'd prefer a pinned photo reference thread to further partitioning of the Kings Corner.

I would find it easier if the forum topics were in model numerical order and not date of most recent post order. The older I get, the easier and more idiot proof it all has to be.

There is no way that I'm aware of for users to sort in this manner. I'm doubtful that even the admins could implement such a change. Perhaps I will do a trial run of my earlier photo index idea.
