Kevin, i doubt your theory of an railroader aging the Mercedes base. Its just dirt and oxidation of the plating and a more glossy surface at the produting frames and the script. Take a badly oxidated base and rubb it with a towel. The produting parts will be shining and the dirt is left on the deeper surface.

15.jpg shows the reflection of the wheels on the base plate.
I've never noticed this in a model in the hand or in a photo before.
Too glossy for an unpainted diecast base plate!

I agree Kurt! And to polish a baseplate this way, it must be out of the body, or one would damage the paint on the lower edges of the body.

I'm definitely not an expert, but those axle heads look HUGE and thereby would make me 99.9% suspicious of it being a fake.

Hallo idris. Please wil you translate my message.

Greetings Henk from Holland

This model is being offered for sale by The Netherland's most prolific faker.
He sells models which are so rare that almost no one has one. The red Ferrari has heavily scratched windows, but completely undamaged paintwork. The rivet has also been replaced. He always uses the same rivets and often adds a drop of paint in the body colour.
The seller is well known in The Netherlands, and is therefore selling fewer and fewer models.

Can someone please provide an Ebay alias to go with the red Ferrari? (It's not our old friend Eric Jonkers again, is it?)
