Red Ferrari 75b
I found this one for sale. I wonder if this is really original, can anyone shine his light on this.

Re: Red Ferrari 75b
The baseplate looks as though it's been cleaned, the rivets look odd, and the axle heads are too large.

Kevin, can you be more specific on this.GHOSTHUNTER wrote:I'm going with...its been tampered with.

Re: Red Ferrari 75b
Yes, as Hugh has mentioned, the baseplate is not right, it looks burnished and we have a Mercedes-Benz on the forum with just such a finish coming from an unreliable source...
The treatment of this base is something that a plastic kit modeller can achieve for the purpose of adding patina or weathering to Military kits, it does not belong on a Lesney model and appears to have been done to help give the impression of original ageing...!!
To me the Ferrari is the same.

75beware!
Please use a web hosting site (like photobucket) to store pictures so you can post them here, using attachments makes it hard to view the pictures when you have to scroll to see them. Seeing comparisons of models is hard to see with attachments too.

Re: Red Ferrari 75b
The base plate was the main reason for asking. In the variation guide, the code 1 Ferrari 75B shows "????" for the base plate.GHOSTHUNTER wrote:Yes, as Hugh has mentioned, the baseplate is not right, it looks burnished and we have a Mercedes-Benz on the forum with just such a finish coming from an unreliable source...

I was wondering what that means; or who knows how the base plate should look?

This one looks decidedly dubious for the reasons already given. This must be one of the most faked regular wheels, they pop up all the time. I think many were also done by kids who preferred their Ferraris in red.
