I don't disagree, but there is only two of these right now, perhaps I can convince someone to trade me a tan morris for it, since the morris is common by comparison. If we tell everyone how boring it is they might catch on.

I do not know if I have showed it or it was 36c Opel Diplomat. My 53c has gold plated motor also, anyway the model is not so common one.

I have one with what appears to be goldish as well. I think like above, some may have been as a result of the a chemical reaction in the plastic.

Hi all,
nice #53 c 's you all have there!
This car is something special. It is not as beautiful as a mustang but very interesting and also rare (I mean the real car!).
I think it cant be very popular because they are seldom to see on the roads or at vintage car rallys, too.
Two or three years ago my family and me went to denmark for vacation. And because of my dad and me getting crazy when a classic car appears, we also visited a vintage car rally.
That was the first time (and the once) I saw a real Ford Zodiac.
I was looking for a better picture on my computer but I could only find this one....JAGUAR: MOVE AWAY!

Sadly the MkIV Zephyr/Zodiac range was nothing like as good as its predecessors (It's nice how Lesney also made MkII and MkIII models). They were a bit of an ugly duckling, and soon gained a reputation for being unreliable. I believe they sold far fewer than the MkIII range - there are certainly a lot more of the earlier MkI, II and III Zephyr/Zodiacs around in NZ nowadays, and they have always been popular with enthusiasts.

The Mk IV Zephyr / Zodiac / Executive was a lovely car, it was large and comfortable, My Dad had a Farnham Estate, Sadly the car was killed off by the rocketing fuel prices caused by the 1972 fuel crisis which saw many roadworthy cars sent to the scrapyard long before their time.

If you look at the side profile of these Zodiac MkIVs it is possible to see Ford were attempting to have some sort of world style because these do look a lot like the ´66 Ford Galaxie from US and ´67 Ford Falcon from Australia just with an even shorter trunk and different headlamps! The real deal were impressive cars - as a 10-11 y.o. I had a few rides in a dark purple top of the range Executive model belonging to one of my mother´s friends -very impressive car and more space inside than their Rover & Triumph price bracket rivals
