Just checked my collection of prepros and I did find an example of the K23 in yellow as shown by Jason. It does have Matchbox Speedkings on the base followed by K-23 Mercury Commuter.
I am not sure how many color trials or prepros used to be made prior production.

No, not with blue windows. In fact this is a new version to me which I am not at all surprised as I continue finding variations that are not documented in any published works that I aware of. I do not think that anyone really knows what's out there as when these toys were produced, they used whatever there was available to keep production going. Some of the variations are minor, such as axle covers but others are modification to the casting which is only noticeable when compared next to similar models. It certainly keeps things interesting.

Yes they are great models for variations, I keep some info on my website about some superking models. Please take a look it may be interesting to you, I do not list all variations. Its mainly reference for me so I know what i have.

I will certainly check it out, thanks. I am starting to keep notes of the variations I find (it is a big task and requires a lot of time and patience). For instance the K16 Petrol Tanker I have found around 85 variations and counting which also include different colored axle covers, different colored tank tops and different size rear license plates. Included in this list is the battle king military version as well. I have yet to find the elusive BP and LEP variations.
