Similar Stephan. More than Two examples have to be seen and acknowledged as genuine models from the Lesney factory and once the full specification of them has been recorded they are likely to be added to the 'Code Listing'. This is what I have picked up from the various posts here, but will be happy for a more accurate definition from a more learned member of the forum.

This is a very valid point and needs to be made quite clear what allows a model into the listings.

Basically Martin's Maxim (named in honour of member Martin Avis who first formulated it) requires two examples of a variation for it to be considered eligible for entry in the variation tables.
The exception is formed by casting variations of which (usually) only a single example is required.

Photographs (which will obviously be subjected to close scrutiny by Forum members) of two different examples from two different sources are all that is required. If the consensus is that the variation is genuine, that’s good enough for Nick.

Thank you for checking for the plough blade decal and adding your photo of the base hole-open steps model. I have only seen one of these for sale online but the photos were poor so it was difficult to confirm decal colour.

I am sure Nick has this in hand but just needs the right detail and spare time to add to his tables.

Some further background in addition to my first post.
The 16c with base hole and two open steps and red and white decal has been known for some years, my loose page added to my Stannard indicates 2009 one sited.
This 16c open step both sides with base hole were bought to our attention on the forum by member nokrybabies nearly three years ago. It was confirmed by Antonin and then later Dan in the Georges casting show and now Joe.(Joembox)
The quality of the photos from Antonin, Joe and Dan clearly show authentic factory castings. ( the nokrybabies photos have long gone so I can’t comment on those).

Initially it was thought this could mean two new variations because of the decals in red or orange but there was also the question of rear braces ( small and large) and the with and without (block) step on cross brace. There was lots of nice detail provided by Antonin and Dan ( and also Larry in NY) that has to be considered before Nick can place a code against this.

As this will be covered no doubt in the idris unlisted variations study of the 16c the finer details could be sorted then, but in the meantime………

Until we can see clear photos of decal colours we still do not have enough to document the one Joe has shown.(with two authentic examples needed of the SAME variation) So far we only have one (Joe) model that has shown a decal.

On my monitor it is difficult to tell the decal colour. Two photos show the decal and both look different to me. Joe, do you have another model with the other colour decal that you can show both models in the same photo of plough blade side by side please?
Can you also please add a macro photo showing the rear tipper pin area with cross brace? The best angle is to raise the tipper and lay the model on its back. The cross brace may be either smooth or have a step on some models. Thanks in anticipation.

The original photo from Antonin (2012) was a base shot as well so the plough blade decal colour of his is at this point unknown to us.

I hope this will help a little to make Nicks job a bit easier.

I have just been into our old site ('Befora'...!), looking for some pictures by "Nokrybabies", but did not find them, there is no facility to search for a member's postings, you have to know a bit more of the post for the search engine to find what you are looking for.

I did however find these pictures and the poster's username is attached to the image...
unfortunately there were no base shots of these Two.
The story with "Kiwi78" was he wanted to keep the tatty version until a better example came along and sure enough it did, but he then noticed the better condition model has the hole in the base and took the pictures to show both.

Here are a few more pictures:
1 - I have 2 scammels, one plow with orange stripes and one with red.
The open steps and hole scammel is the red blade scammel on the right.

2 - As requested, included is the red blade scammel (open steps and hole) on its back
(sorry about the key I used to prop the base up).

3 - I did note the rear brace. It does have a notch in it whereas the other scammel I have the brace is straight across
(hope I am referencing what Bert was requesting)

Thank you Joe for coming back with the comparison decal photos. We are still waiting on Antonin to see this thread and confirm his decal colour.
I have another photo which I will upload soon to make confirmation easier for Nick also.
Yes, the rear view photo on both models are what I was after. Thank you.
