Moko Lesney Matchbox 65b Jaguar 3.8 sedan

There is some confusion with this Lesney model as it states "Jaguar 3.4 litre" on the baseplate but the box has "Jaguar 3.8 litre" on the endflaps but as that is how it originally came from the factory so I guess that technically it is correct,
This model was introduced into the Matchbox 1-75 series in 1962 and it was painted metallic red with silver trim to the headlights, grille and front bumper,
Some listings catalog it with having silver trim to the rear bumper but I have not seen that version yet so have not been able to add it to the listing until it can be confirmed,
The baseplate is painted silver grey which has the fine engine detail and mandatory tow hook cast in.
The first short run had clear plastic windows but all subsequent ones were light green tinted plastic,
Silver plastic wheels of 9 or 9.5 x 20 were used on the early issues and to add to play value it had an opening bonnet (hood) to show off the previously mentioned engine detail that was cast into the baseplate.

Later the colour was changed to a brignt red gloss with 9.5 x 20 silver wheels and later 10 x 36 appeared in grey or black plastic and the final issue had 11 x 45 grey plastic,
The axles were always dome head with rounded ends,
There was one minor casting variation where the grille was reduced in size and during this modification the grille also lost it's Jaguar badge.
The Jaguar has been reported to be painted in a dark metallic blue with silver wheels but no windows and although it could be possible as this was the colour scheme of the earlier Jaguar it has not been added to the listing because if it does exist it would most likely be a pre production model,
The jaguar was available in 'C', 'D' and 'E' type boxes,
There are no particularly rare variations although the black wheeled issue is not as common as some of the others, it was deleted to make way for the 65c Claas combine harvester in 1967.

Two silver wheeled and a grey, one error piece with no windows,
