Moko Lesney Matchbox 42b Studebaker lark wagonaire

The Lesney model of the 42b Studebaker lark wagonaire was introduced into the Matchbox 1-75 series at the start of 1965 when it replaced the 42a evening news van,
The Studebaker was initially painted dark blue in the same shade as the early 47b Commer ice cream van, it had 11 x 45 black plastic wheels on dome head axles with rounded ends,
It had clear plastic windows and a plated baseplate that included the grille, the headlights and the front & rear bumper detail as part of the casting. Because the grille, headlight & bumper detail was cast as part of the baseplate silver trim was not needed on the Studebaker.
To add to play value the model was equipped with a sliding rear roof panel as found on the real Studebaker and on the first issues the slide was painted dark blue to match the body colour.

The body was recoloured to a slightly lighter medium dark blue as found on the 12c Land Rover and the roof slide was recoloured to a much lighter blue as found on the 7b Anglia which can vary from light blue to light blue-grey. The slide kept its new light blue-grey shade throughout the rest of production until the last recolour when it reverted back to the original shade of dark blue.
Later still the model was recoloured again to a lighter more turquoise shade of blue which can be found in a bright or much duller shade.
The final recolouring was back to the medium dark blue (12c) which was very similar to the earlier shade used but this last recolour was with a new two pack paint which uses a pale blue undercoat so although looking similar to the earlier version it is actually quite different.

It should be noted that the various paint shades used to colour this model are notoriously difficult to photograph as the photos always seem to look more turquoise and this effect is hightened when models are photographed with a flash or under artificial light.
To add a little interest Lesney included a white or off white plastic hunter and dog with the model which are pictured on the front of the box, I would include photographs but my own hunter and dog are not at hand at the moment so photos will follow soon.
All colour variations can be found with or without a towing guide cast in which makes me think that both types were in production for the life of the model.
Apart from the tow guide the only casting variation is to be found on the inside of the roof slide which can be found with or without a letter 'B' cast.
The Studebaker is a fairly common model and there are no rare variants, It was packaged in 'E' type boxes, the early boxes show a red car pictured, later boxes had an illustration in the correct colours.

The Studebaker with unpainted slide may just be an error piece but I have listed
it here to find out if more exist, I would particularly be interested in any models
without tow guide and unpainted slide.

The studebaker has also been seen with unpainted roof slides and although these are most likely to be error pieces I
need to know if this variation is also available without tow guide in order to add it to the listing.
Note, code 1-8 are in enamel paint and 9-10 are two pack paint with a light blue undercoat.
