Lesneys 37b Karrier bantam 'coca cola' bottle float replaced the earlier 37a version in 1960 and the two models can easily be identified because the earlier 37a did not have a baseplate but the later 37b did have a baseplate which was painted gloss black.
The 37b always had an even load of crates and unlike the earlier model the rear mudguards were cast in as part of the baseplate and were painted black wheras the earlier issue had yellow rear mudguards.
The 37b was a nicer and more accurate casting than the previous issue and it included two lockers in the sides of the headboard which would have been used to carry a folding sack barrow to transport the crates.The 37b was always painted in one shade of yellow and it had mask sprayed silver trim to the grille and front bumper.
The model was originally fitted with 8 x 18 grey plastic wheels on dome head axles with crimped ends but these were soon replaced with dome head axles with rounded ends.
Later 8 x 18 or 9 x 24 black plastic wheels or 8 x 18 or 9 x 24 silver plastic wheels were used on dome head axles with rounded ends.
The rear 'coca cola' decal can be 11.5mm or 13mm high as on the previous issue but the 'coca cola' decals used on the sides were always the smaller type as the larger type was no longer in use.
The grey plastic wheeled variation is the easiest one to find followed closely by the one with black wheels. The silver wheeled variation is by far the hardest one to find, In fact I don't recall seeing a single silver wheel variant in 30+ years of collecting so it is a model that is very rarely seen.
The Karrier was packaged in 'B' , 'C' and 'D' type boxes, it was deleted in early 1966 to make way for the 37c Dodge cattle truck.
All of the coca cola trucks fetch a small premium simply because they are also collected by coca cola collectors so there is a higher demand for these models.
