PLEASE NOTE: I will no longer be altering the variation codes. All new discoveries will be inserted in to their correct place in the timeline and given a suffix.
So a new variation that would be nearest to variation 4 would become the new 4a, etc.

Moko Lesney Matchbox 31b Ford station wagon

Lesney introduced the Ford station wagon which replaced the earlier version at the number 31 spot in the Matchbox 1-75 series 1959 and it was initially kept in the colour scheme of the earlier issue which was yellow body and black baseplate.
It had silver trim to the grille, headlights and the front & rear bumper and red trim was applied to the tail lights,
It had clear plastic windows and was fitted with 9 x 20 grey or silver plastic wheels on dome head axles with rounded ends.
The baseplate was later changed to crimson and this version can be found with clear or green tinted windows or no windows at all and it came with silver wheels only.
The model was recoloured to metallic green with a pink roof,
The first issue released in the new colour scheme was fitted with clear windows but this was soon changed to green tinted windows and silver wheels, Around this time the trim on the rear bumper was omitted.
Later the baseplate colour was changed back to black for the final issues and this can be found with 9 x 24 grey, silver or black wheels

There were casting modifications made to the body and to the baseplate.
The body was modified in the corner where the inside of the bonnet (hood) and the inside of the grill meet, The corner was originally a right angle corner but later it had the corner filled by an angled infill which was later changed to a rounded infill.
The baseplate received attention in the area of the tow hook which originally had a triangular hook but this was later strengthened by the addition of squared braces cast to the sides of the hook.
All of the yellow issues are rare with the windowless one probably being the rarest and apart from the green & pink version with crimson baseplate and silver or grey plastic wheels which is very common most of the other variations are rare too with the black baseplate and black plastic wheels version being the rarest,
The Ford was packaged in 'B' ,'C' and 'D' type boxes, the 'D' box being the rarest and fetching a small premium. It was replaced by the 31c Lincoln Continentel late in 1964.
