Moko Lesney Matchbox 26c GMC tipper truck

The Lesney model of the GMC (General Motors Corporation) tipper truck joined the Matchbox 1-75 series in 1968,
The cab was painted bright red, the chassis was painted green and the tipper body was painted silver grey and it was fitted with a silver grey tail board that hinged at the top so it could open,
It had a green tinted window unit which was borrowed from the other GMC in the range which was the 44c refrigerator truck and in fact the window unit has No 44 molded into the top,
To increase the play value of the model the cab could be tilted to allow access to the engine detail which was cast in as part of the chassis but a it should have had a stop cast in as when the cab was tilted there was nothing to stop it tipping too far forwards until was resting on the ground which did not look very authentic and was not really up to Lesneys standards,
Like the cab the tipper body was also hinged on a regular dome head axle pin with a rounded end which allowed it to tip up to empty its load,
Both the body and the tipper bed can be found with either a number 1 or a number 2 cast in.
The tailboard has "holmalloy" cast into one of the corners in very small lettering but this is only on one side it also has mb 26 cast in the opposite corner but the tailboard can be found fitted either way around so the tailboard lettering is not always facing the correct way.
There's very little to interest the variation collector because this one only came in the one colour scheme and there are no wheel or casting variations to be found so there is just the one version,
All in all it was rather a mundane model that could have been enhanced by silver trim and a nice set of decals but that was not to be.
It was packaged in 'E' or 'F' type boxes and it was converted to superfast wheels in 1970 although with the tipping cab and tipper body it cant have been much use on the superfast tracks as whenever the model came into contact with anything the cab would tilt forwards.
