The Lesney model of the Daimler ambulance was introduced into the 1-75 series in 1955,
It was painted cream and had hand applied silver trim to the grille and headlights,
It was only fitted with the one wheel type which was 7 x 18 grey metal which could be on flat head or dome head axles with crimped ends,
It can be found with or without a red cross decal applied to the roof and it had 'Ambulance' cast into the side panels, It was a very simple toy that did not have a baseplate and in fact the variation without the cross decal was with the exception of the 36b Lambretta motor scooter & sidecar the simplest model made by Lesney when you take into account all the parts, decals and trim,
There were no casting variations and it was only available in 'B' type boxes,
It was deleted in 1958 to make way for the 14b which was an enlarged version of the Daimler.
Note the photograph of the real Daimler ambulance at the bottom of the page which shows it to be a much larger vehicle than it appears in the model form, Amazingly the real Daimler had a half ton of concrete slab fitted into the floor to ensure the patient got a smooth ride to the hospital!.
