The second Lesney version of the bedford O type breakdown recovery truck was introduced into the Matchbox 1-75 series 1958,
It kept the same colour scheme as the previous model which was tan body with a dark red jib and hook with silver trim to the grille and front bumper,
The main improvement to the previous model was the jib being held in place by the rear axle rather than the clips which the first model had which often lead to the jib becoming detached, Also the upper sides of the recovery body were lengthened slightly, It was originally issued with grey metal wheels on flat head axles with crimped ends but soon the axles were changed to dome head with crimped ends.
Later grey plastic wheels were fitted on dome head axles with crimped ends and later with dome head axles with rounded ends,
The hook was secured to the jib by a regular flat or dome head axle pin which was also painted red,
There are no known casting modifications to this model.
An oddity to the model is that the jib securing pin was still crimped even though the axles had changed to rounded ends,
It was sold in 'B' type boxes and after less than three years in production it was deleted in late 1960 or early 1961 to make way for the third recovery truck the 13c Ford Thames Trader.
