The Lesney model of the Mercedes scaffolding truck joined the Matchbox 1-75 series in 1969, It was painted silver and it had a red plastic baseplate which was attached by the grille which was part of the baseplate that located into an opening in the front panel and a by single rivet to the rear, It had dark green tinted windows and 11.5 x 45 black plastic wheels on dome head rounded rivets. The rear axle was affixed by locating through holes in tongues that hung down from the chassis, the front axle was attached by similar means to the baseplate and it is here the only variation can be found, The axle can locates through either round holes or elongated slots. It was decorated with red and white labels for the 'builders supply company' which were fixed to the sides of the load bed and it came with seven pieces of yellow plastic scaffolding that could be joined together to make a tower. It was packaged in 'F' type boxes and in 1970 was converted for the superfast range. It is very common except for a very small number of pre production models in yellow which are known to have been released.
