You got me to check the baseplate of mine and it's really different. It doesn't say "Scammell Contractor" anywhere, and it also lacks that patterned area, "checkerplate" I believe it's called or "diamondplate" in American-speak.

The Scammell tipper is another of my favorite King Sizers. I really like the suspension on this one - it's kind of clunky and top heavy the way a real tipper should be.

In comparison, I bought a Corgi fire engine the other day and even though it's a beautiful model to look at it doesn't appeal to me nearly as much as many Matchbox models because the wheels and axles are all rigid. If it just had a little "bounce" it would be so much more interesting. I wonder if any of the Corgis have suspension (?). I'm also wondering if it had suspension and it's not working, particularly because the rear wheels rub a bit on the fenders . I may have to open it up and have a look-see.

This is one of my favorite kings. All metal, solid truck. This model went through the transition from the regular wheels to superfast. There were at least 4 variations of superfast wheels: 5 spoke, Maltese cross, large Maltese cross and small Maltese cross. The axle holder can be found in light green, dark green, blue or clear. The radiator grill can be found in black or red. The cab labels can be found pointing in various directions. I have some with different shades of yellow dump. The cab was originally released in red later changed to metallic red.

Finally managed to get a lemon yellow tipper on this model, very difficult when looking at photos but very pleased to get one. Mathias I do not have a clear window version, so thats one i need to add onto the long list. J

Any chance we can have the title of this thread changed to K19A Scammell Contractor Tipper to keep the same convention Charlie is using to make for easier searching please.

I am wondering if it would be better to merge the two K19 topics together and in doing so put Charlie's on the end of this one you are reading now as Charlie's contains the updated info over the one by ''mbx75''...would that work?

No, I would prefer not to see the big red text in the other threads. Even just taking out the space between the K and the 19 would be ok.
