Hi Mike.
The metal wheels were etched with acid to give them the grey colour. This was known as 'grenodised'
It looks like your tanker missed the grenodising stage.

Thank you Nick for the info.
Is the model, therefore, something special?
Or an Oops from the factory. :?:

Hi Mike.
Some acids will remove the grenodising from the wheels, so it may be an oops and it may not be........

Hi Nick,
Also interesting in this 11a ERF truck is:

- No silver trim
- Both front window struts are missing.
- And that silver metal wheels.
(3 oops on this model)

I request for info.
Thanks Mike & Nico

Hi Mike,
Do the windscreen pillars look like they were broken off or do they look like they were never cast.
If they were never cast I guess it could be a pre production colour trial or test piece as it would have been cast using a lower pressure because the dies would not have been hardened in case the dies needed to be modified.

Hi Nick,

The columns are not broken.
I think a metal casting error.
These columns, however, are hard to break.

But even without silver trim and silver metal wheels
are interesting in this model. ?

Yes, very interesting Mike
I would compare it carefully with other 11a's and see if the casting is different in any way.

Thank you Nick for the reply.
But, I only have these 2 yellow models to compare.

Request for help of other members in the forum.

Thanks Mike
