I do not know who Mark Court is by name, but in saying NO and NO to Pete's question may be a mystery for many car enthusiasts who have this impression that Rolls-Royce cars were hand painted because the cars are essentially all hand made!
Automotive spraying equipment dates back to at least 1907, the same year the famous Silver Ghost was in the motoring magazines of the time. The low number of cars made by Rolls-Royce leading upto the Silver Ghost could have been hand painted but were not. The Rolls-Royce car in the early 1900's was being seen in use by the nobility of the day who spread by word of mouth the sheer quality of these cars ensuring the cars were getting into all the right places and hand painted cars would not pass scrutiny!
Hand painting at Rolls-Royce was carried out for the finer details such as trimming inside the cars and coachline trimming outside the cars plus any additional detail requested by the owner such as coats of arms or initials etc on the doors.

Thank's Ian, just googled him and I see he is post-98 Rolls-Royce workforce. I tend to stick with old school Rolls-Royce, 1904-1998, but it is a good example of what you can have done to your own car and the type of paint trimming he can do probably could not be done successfuly with screen or tampo printing.
