Fun Ho from NZ!

Hi all,
Not European, or Far East, but this seemed the best place....

Thanks to member here Mattrove (Cheers mate), I now have a few Fun Ho diecasts.
I know next to nothing about them, but they are little crackers. I love the fact that they made British outline models, in roughly M,bx scale, of vehicles never made by Lesney Budgie etc,

Here they are...

M,bx style coach, and two Holdens, a Police and Ambulance...

Ford 300E panel (WHY didn't Lesney make this one?) and Commer Coach..

A real prize, boxed MK1 Cortina with sales leaflet....

3 Bedford TK Tankers,

Cheers Matt,
I love em.

Great little collection there, but to actually see that the Cortina Estate does exist is great, I have never seen one before in private hands, that is a gem piece for me.

History of Fun Ho! can be found HERE... So far I've only managed to photograph and catalogue 3 of the hundreds I have for my web site (toysnz.com)

Karl...
I see you have one of the blue windscreen models (produced for a couple of bookshops, one in NZ and one in Australia) - the solid box should have details on these bookshops printed on the box if it is one of the original blue screen models... I believe they MAY also have been produced at a later date by the Fun Ho! Museum, but I'm not certain on that.

Yep, blue windshield from the Museum. (The boxes are switched in the photo.) I'll check what the box says. I got several of these from Modelauto in England years ago.

Karl - if from the museum the boxes should not mention the bookshops - I must fish mine out and get them photographed so you can see what I mean....

You are right, my friend! The other side of the box says Underwood made them for Message Books and Models, remanufactured 1996. Did Modelauto in England get them from Underwood as they said at the tine, or from the store? Did Underwood bother making different boxes?

Underwood made a special order for the book shop and printed the special boxes to identify the models as re-issues. To my knowledge these were the only Fun Ho! miniatures to be issued with the blue windows until the Museum (some time later) also used up spare components, including the spare blue windows, to make stock for the Museum shop. They MIGHT have used up spare packaging too, so it is uncertain if the Modelauto shop got their stock from the surplus left over from the book shops or from the Museum's re-issue of the re-issue!
