This is the first Caddy I am restoring.

My old age must be getting to me again, I thought you had done a Caddy before. By the way, the Aston looks great with those wire wheels ... if only the wire wheels had been made sooner, it would have been a perfect combo for Lesney to put on that model.

What I find interesting is the bare metal finish on Gerrit's models. Assuming Gerrit has treated all the models in that picture to the same method of preparation, why do we see some in a very bright gloss finish, you can probably expect this among different castings of different models, a Ford, a Jaguar etc, but looking at the Four #24 Silver Shadow castings, One is very different from the other Three!

Wires make everything look better . Here's some more wire wheel conversions. The metallic graphite paint looks a little funky this close up, but it was sweet looking in hand.





And another Merc with wires. This is the same graphite paint and you get a bettter idea how good it looks on the cars at a more realistic distance.

That is correct. The point is that on some cars the paint strips easy peasy, while others won't. In the latter case I use a Dremel brush to remove the final paint residue, which makes them shine like a goat's behind.
And yes wire wheels do look great on many models, the GT 40 shown in the line-up will also get them.
Your previous restoration a role model for me.
