Hi All:

I discovered this model half-done recently. I started it about 10 years ago and put away for another day. Well, I've been working on it and finally finished it complete with stickers and driver. Various painting imperfections and I think the tarted up wheels were a mistake.

The paint imperfections are true Matchbox style, so you have done well to recreate the effect and yes, the wheels are not so good, need repainting back to Black or dark Grey I reckon.

Excellent news, if you need any information or pictures let me know, because the Rolls-Royce Armoured Car really exists from Two periods, 1914-1920 and then 1920-1924 (the Matchbox model #Y-38).

Thanks for the info offer. I think it was used in North Africa in WWII. I would love to do that version, which I guess was the later version.

You will be looking at this design then. A 1920 'Admiralty Pattern' upgraded in 1924 with balloon tyres on solid wheel rims and because of the chassis series used, curvaceous front wings.
These were used in more theatres of War than the earlier design.

The general dimensions are pretty close to the car on display in Bovington Museum.

To be more accurate for making a model of this car, the Matchbox #Y-36 Rolls-Royce Phantom I would be a better starting point, but the Y-15 is ideal for the 1914-1920 Armoured Car, it all depends on your own modelling skills at to how good or accurate you want them.
