50c Ford Kennel Truck
50c Ford Kennel Truck
None of the NAMC’s “Catalog of all Series Matchbox Models” (second edition) , the AIM “1-75 Series Regular Wheels” catalogue (second printing, 1983), Stannard orHoughton contain any variations not already catalogued by Nick.
U.K. Matchbox did not examine the model.
It should be noted that both the NAMC and AIM catalogues highlight the fact that the body comes in various shades.

Re: 50c Ford Kennel Truck
I have a very Minty, more metallic Blue than green colored Ford Kennel Truck that was sold to me by Ron Slyder out of a collection he had at a West Point Matchbox U.S.A. event. (1980s) Neither my Dad nor Ron could see any reason to collect such an oddity for just it's color alone, so for $25 it became my ultimate collectible Kennel Truck now put away for safe keeping. Ron was a fairly 'New' Dealer in Lesneys, and boy did I buy some rare gems from both him and some other dealers that day out of several deep early Lesney collections being sold by them at that event. kwakers

I forgot to mention that in addition to that metallic blue more than green Kennel Truck with early clear canopy, smooth bed floor, and a white grill, we have 2 main green colors of these Kennel Trucks in our collection that were in our stores and markedly different from each other right out of their factory boxes. The 2 very different color greens were found both on early models with clear canopies and smooth bed floors with white grills, and also on later variations with tinted canopies, textured floors, and later silver grills in them. kwakers

Re: 50c Ford Kennel Truck
Kwakers, would that be a similar blue/green to the MB 75 Ferrari ?

Re: 50c Ford Kennel Truck
Because the Kennel Truck is of a darker metallic green than the early lighter #75 Ferraris, the blue-green on our Kennel Truck is also darker then the known Blue Ferraris as well. But, you now have made the comparison of the two 'non-stock' blue tinted colors as used on these two different Lesney castings. As the Ferrari aged, the green color got darker and more similar to the 'stock' metallic green color used on the Kennel Truck, but the blue versions of that Ferrari are much lighter because they were produced much earlier in that model's 'light metallic green' life.
Nick always had printed an early theory that the Lesney paint guns were not cleaned between most colors, they just added a progression of different colors to paint successive castings from white to black. If there was enough of the last color paint left inside the paint hopper or the guns, the first few models of the next casting to be painted would show either that earlier odd color mixed in, or at least a very strong tint of that wrong color which was still left in the guns. The theory does explain a few of the odd colour shades found on our earlier Lesneys in a very sensible manner. kwakers

Kwakers, when are you going to get to grips with technology and post some images of the wonderful rare Matchbox models you have acquired over the years?
It is very frustrating that we never get a chance to view them here on the forum. Please drag yourself out of that candle lit cave and enter into the 21st Century, there are many members on here including myself who would learn so much more if we could actually see the model you are referring when you provide such beautifully detailed descriptions of these htf variations. Please please please!!!

Yes C'mon Kwakers, how about it...
As the current caretaker of our Photography threads, I recommend you go for one of the more modern 'Pin-Hole' Cameras, very cheap (Make it yourself), and very easy to operate (operate it yourself), and with such a wide angle lens, you don't even need to do any focusing, everything is in focus.
An example is shown below. Ghosty.
