Got this one off ebay recently as a tester, I know its not going to be real but the decals on this one are not flat and look very good.
The decals are probably off an origional 69a, but how do they get the decals to look so good.
I am just trying to get my head around the models that have reassigned decals.

Those decals look very good J, are you sure they are not the real deal?

Hi Reg, it was very close for me as i do not bid very high on labels or decals. But the decal seemed very good in the pictures, also timeline on these models is close.

To be honest Alex I am not sure, the seller has not got back to me yet about any history on the model.
The decals look the same as on my 69a commer nestle vans, but I have heard that people can remove these old decals and swap them.
The casting is also the early type with no infill, timeline wise pretty good both in 1959. Anyway for me a very interesting piece to discuss.

Tinman or Nick can advise on this. Some of the old Matchbox decals are so brittle and delicate you would think it's impossible to do anything with them, but reassignment does happen and if it's done skillfully I would have thought it would be almost impossible to tell the difference. I've heard that good silkscreen printed decals can be difficult to tell from originals too. I can't think why this one would be a reassignment though, so a bit of a mystery.

With a well-used nearlymint model like this, I would bet on that decal being original to this Truck J.
If it had been re-assigned in the 60s when that decal was still live enough to transfer in it's entirety, I would say anyone would have placed it on a Mint early variation, and it would have stayed that way and still be in someone's collection. It certainly is a Very interesting model we can discuss further when your answer and the model arrives from the Seller. kwakers

I seriously doubt its authentic. It makes no sense to brand that type of truck for Nestle in the first place. With the prices people pay for such nonsense models, it's ripe to be a reassignment, after the fact use of left over decals or even a good reproduction. Regardless, only a fool would pay extra money for that model.

Thankyou for the comments, not really trying to decide wether I am a fool or not. Realised that a long time ago,But I am trying to get my head around these decals.
I do have the model now and can see no other differences, cost was not high so I thought it would be a good starter point for trying to see any differences in the decals for future models.
Did not think that it could have possibly been an unused original decal, just wanted to find out about repro decals and how good they can be made. I thought all repro decals were flat so assumed this must have been removed from another model.
Probably have put this in the wrong section thinking about it now, now way I can prove its real my main reason is trying to sort out how decals can be moved from one model to another and how to spot it.J

I agree with Joe.
Looking at the decals, I see some chipping, but perhaps not enough given the wear to the rest of the model. Could we be looking at a 1960s decal swap?

I think it maybe a lunch box special and bid what I was comfortable with J only just out bid me. I'm nowhere near as experienced or knowledgeable as you guys and would have kept it with me to show the likes of Nick or Graham Hamilton, it's interesting and will always be a good conversation piece with so many different opinions
