G'day from Australia
I'm new to this forum and the world of diecast models. I would like to sell my childhood matchbox and yesteryear collection.
I have over 200 pieces of early matchbox 1-75 plus major series and accessories packs including roadways still packaged plus early yesteryear models. All the above mostly excellent condition in boxes but a few mildly used with damaged boxes. I would like to sell them in one lot if possible. I can itemize/photograph complete collection when needed. My question, is there anyone interested? The attached photo is to give an idea of condition of what I have. Please PM me if you require more information
I can put up more photos if requested.
Thank you
Thunderchild

Re: Collection for sale
Being in Australia makes shipping costs very high for large weights.Only dealers rather than established collectors tend to buy whole collections and those dealers will seek to profit from selling off the cherries in your collection and then dumping the rest. Members here tend to already have 90% of the Lesneys they require but they are prepared to pay top dollar for the cherries they dont have like your green #27 Cadillac . So I would advise you to sell the cherries to the highest bidders overseas and sell the 90% of your collection that is common locally within Australia where in fact such mint models are much harder to find than in Europe and USA and shipping costs are minimised

I think that's very sound advice.SMS88 wrote:Being in Australia makes shipping costs very high for large weights.Only dealers rather than established collectors tend to buy whole collections and those dealers will seek to profit from selling off the cherries in your collection and then dumping the rest. The other problem with selling common models into countries such as the Uk are the punitive duties and import taxes which can effectively add as much as 25% to the purchase price.
Re: Collection for sale
And the problem in Australia is that no one wants to pay a high amount for anything but when they sell they want top dollar for basic junk even - go figure.
Re: Collection for sale
Hello Thunderchild, Pictures are much better than words, as has been said most of the 1-75 collectors maybe have most of the models.
But some like my self are always looking for certain variations rare or other wise, these sold on their own would fetch more money from the
genuine collector. so as I said Pictures-Pictures are all important, then the collectors can decide.

G'day again
Advice taken, and I am currently cataloging my collection which is bringing back lots of childhood memories.
I'm finding this website a huge help as I didn't know all the variations (codes) within the different models so it's a real eye opener. Because of this it's going to take me more time than I expected as I'm a complete novice.
More information and photo's soon...
Thanks again for your advice
