Hi All

New to the site and Im in Australia so a fair way away from most. I put this on another site as well but it seems this is a lot more user active.

I have a number of Moko Lesney cars that were my Dads from when he owned a shop in the 50's.
Approx 70 Mint in box and a further 30 in good condition no box.
They have not been catalogued yet but to give you an idea

4,5,16,25,28,30,31,32,33,34,36,37,39,42,43,44,45,46,47,53,55 (boxed and some in multiples)
I know there is more than one model to some numbers and to save a lot of typing till they are catalogued this is it lol

My question is what is the best way to get them appraised and then possibly sell them? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Your best starting point would be to visit the owner of this forum's other site at http://www.vintagebritishdiecasts.co.uk ... series.htm

There you will find details of all the 1-75 series models, including almost all known variations, as well as a guide to the current market values.

Be aware though that there is no precise way to value these models as the prices will depend on who want the model on the day it is sold.

There are many serious collectors on this forum, but none would venture a guess at the values of your cars without seeing extensive in-focus closeup photographs of each of them - taken in natural light without flash (artificial light and flash can often change the colours of the paint in pictures). Photos should be of both the car and the box (often at least half the value is in the box) and should be from all angles, including the all-important base.

If you decide to sell we do have a marketplace section here, where you can offer individual items at a price you set.

I Looked at the site to start with which is how I found the forum and very informative. Seems so much involved with colour etc. just not sure where to start. Most but not all boxes are in really good shape and all the boxed cars are unused but some that have decals etc. have deteriorated. I Might check out the marketplace you talk of if thats not the same as the auction area which I have already looked at.

Welcome to the forum Bruce, checking models can seem a bit daunting at first so it might be worthwhile posting a few group shots initially so we can get an idea of what you have. As long as we can see colours/decals/wheels and boxes clearly, it might help kick off some discussion.

Same here Bruce, pictures can tell a lot, go and check out some other forum members pictures of their models to get some ideas of what looks good and how they can be shown in detail for the benefit of buyers.

If you have a green no 5 bus in your collection it should go to a high profile auction house because in mint condition they have made around $5000 each in the past!

With Photos there are just too many, If someone wanted to see a specific one then no problem. I did however do an excel spreadsheet, so I tried to attach it but the site doesnt allow excel or xlsx attachments, may scan it later and upload as a pic.
86 boxed with most boxes in good nick and 22 unboxed. One that is unboxed does not have a number on the base, it has a red body and white roof and may be a vauxhall of some type. Looks very similar to what Holden made here in a FJ or FX Holden.

Welcome to the Forum Bruce, this is the only place to be to discuss Lesney/Matchbox.

It sounds like you are referring to the Vauxhall Cresta RW#22a. Should have metal wheels and a black base. Can we see some pictures Bruce
