The catalog says that the original picture showed the Thames in Red and White. This is only true for the UK catalog. The USA catalog shows it in Green and White!

I noticed that too, it looks like the labels I used to make as a kid. Initially I thought the Saladin and the Water Truck had insignia on the front, but perhaps it's meant to be a reflection.

There must have been a change, at some point, in the USA catalogs. My USA catalog shows the Thames in red/white (and I picked up the catalog personally, at my local hobby shop, in 1960).

The green and white pictured Thames catalog actually pictures a Dinky Toy Military Service water Truck in it.
Has anyone ever seen any of these pictured pre-pro colored models in English collections, or perhaps sold by Vectis? If they were held in the Matchbox Toys Limited factory collections, Mike Stannard would have seen them and had them listed as pre-production models when he compiled his 1985 Guide. Where could they be now???........kwakers

I went and checked my USA catalogs. The picture John shows is like my 1958 USA catalog format (goes up to casting number 60). In my second edition 1959 catalog, the van is Red/White and in my 1960 USA catalog the van is also Red/White. I don't have a first edition 1959 catalog so I can only assume that the Green/White van shown is in that catalog. Can anyone confirm that the Green/White van, which John posted, is from the USA first edition of the 1959 catalog (John or anyone)?

My heart is always pounding with excitement when they see prepro models such as 70a or 72a which showed us Dick in his old catalogues. Is there someone who has these models in his collection, or at least someone who can provide some information about these models.

Is that catalog a first or second edition??? I'm thinking it has to only be green in the 1st edition USA catalog (since it's in red in the 2nd edition).
