Beaconsfield toy fair, Saturday, 9th November.

I have just got home from this fair, one of my local cosy do's, it's always nice to see Peter Levinson, we go back a long way in the toy fair world. I was hoping to see tjlglass at this one, as he has been to it before, I wanted to jog his memory on something he mentioned at Huntingdon toy fair a few weeks back,it'll keep.

I was pleasently surprised when nearlymint came and said hello, it was very nice to meet you again Jason and all was going well, until he pulled out of his pocket, a 'pre-pro' 69c Rolls-Royce drop-top, in yellow, the very one I was hoping to secure on ebay, through a friend bidding for me Jason, you certainly know how to make a grown man cry...

At least I now know who did win it and currently where that particular example is, nice one Jason.

I am still hoping to get to Sandown Park and if I do, it will be my first time at this event and I will definately be wearing a VBD sticker, so hopefully I will see some of you there.

Just thought you would be interested to see one, I had to have it to go with the trailer.
Fair was a bit quiet for me though, but my son got loads of lego so he was very happy.

Thank's Jason, iv'e just about recovered.

Looks good with the Horse trailer in tow, how about your blue 'long seat' version and this yellow 'pre-pro' together in one picture, also, when you get time, see if you can record the body casting number inside the bonnet, (if a number is hear, it should be '0' or '1') and the numbers on the inside of the wheels would be handy.

Yes, the toy fair was a little quiet, but the organiser, (the man on the door taking the money) Peter, is an old friend and I try and see him whenever I can, so its always one I like going to.

P.S. I am already working out how much I am willing to offer you for that 69c 'pre-pro'

The yellow Rolls was removed from ebay because it was no longer for sale so I never got to bid, Judging by the very rough one that I had that was missing a lot of paint and the windscreen which sold for around £30+ I would think this one sold well into 3 figures.

I did not actually ask nearlymint what he did pay for the 69c 'pre-pro' during our meeting at the toy fair, I thought it best he enjoys the ownership of the model, before any monetary gain is added to it, (there was in fact a price tag attached to the model, showing three figures) and when I asked Jason if he was going to keep it..."yes" he said!

I went to the Ipswich toyfair today, I met Reg (Fixer) in the hall while looking at a large plastic box full of miniatures from all different makers, There were hundreds of mint and nearly mint models packed into the box, I found a really nice Fun Ho Mercedes and I think Reg got a yellow sf Miura and a few Hot Wheels, The dealer must have lost many sales as we simply could not see all of the models, In fact when I first found the box it still had the lid on so no one could see any of them.
I got a few sf models simply because they were so cheap £2 each and a odd few reg wheels, I also picked up two Husky Chitty Chitty Bang Bangs, a minter for £5 and another for parts for £2, While I was browsing one stall a lady customer came up and asked the dealer if he had any Chittys, Imagine her amazement when I pulled two of them from my pocket lol.
I found a lovely and mint Husky sand truck in blue. The dealer that sold me the cream base fire engine at the Theydon Bois toyfair was also there so I decided to have another look through his beater box, I found a halftrack overpainted in orange, I asked him how much, He said "you are a regular customer, I can't charge you for that". so I said thank you very much, It had the very rare grey plastic rollers and is only the third one I have found in 30 odd years, it's now soaking in brake fluid and hopefully it will clean up ok.

Very nice lot Nick, nice to pick up a few good condition models. Fun ho model looks to be in superb condition. J

Chester (7/12/13)
I arrived early, having been told by the organiser that 'early bird' tickets started at 8 a.m..However, having presented myself, he decided to change the time to 8:15 a.m., saying that he couldn't make an exception for me (whilst obviously blissfully unaware of the fact that there was no one else waiting to get in early!).
Once in, the range of goods on offer was primarly railway (as befits a former station site), with as-good-as no Matchbox.
All I found was a Twin-Pack SF41c with the multi-coloured 62e bonnet label. Fortunately I had aranged to meet up with Chris (Starni999) and concluded a trade with him. (He has already shown his end of the bargian here.)

All in all, I can summarise the Chester toyfair in two words: Don't bother!

I have never been to the Chester fair except to the toy auctions that used to be staged there at The Queens hotel.Do they still do them there anyone know?..But wasnt Chester home to the Matchbox Museum at one point?.You would have thought it would have been a prime Matchbox hunting ground......
