Mine is also without the cross-hatching and with axles peend on the opposite ends. However there are many original #59b examples abound with the domes & peens on the same sides(left or right).
Nice find Peter.

As the wheels were attached to the baseplate before the body was attached to the baseplate the axles could have been fitted from either side.
We also have to take into account that a left handed person would not assemble a model the same way as a right handed person.

Our single playworn example has cross-hatching in the wheelwells. The non crosshatched GPW is an excellent find, and a nice addition to Nick's 'almost complete' listings...LOL We thought that our listings were nearing completion in the 1980s till Mike Stannard proved us to be very anemic in castings, but much stronger on colors and some early known variations he had apparently missed entirely. kwakers

Hi Nick,
Just a short question. Gavin and Numi has the same variation like mine. I know you have a lot of work with the site(s), book, boat, bus and of course you are a fantastic grandpa. Can I help something to you to add this variation to the table? If you need more/better pictures ( I have a new camera

), or if you want to check my model personally, feel free to ask me!
Sorry for my bad english and I hope I was not ungallant!
Peter
