Ok I am about to list some on Ebay, if any of you are interested let me know model and price (price for model postage is extra) because I would prefer to sell to you guys before open market. Done some research and been to a few fairs so I now have a reasonable idea of what they are worth. Obviously I will send you photos of whatever you are interested in before you commit, but please be specific and maybe do in private message with an email address I can send to. No price No pic by the way I am only after serious buyers.

I hope this is ok per the forum, if not please delete the post and let me know, hence I haven't put my email address in here. Oh and please use AUD price and how you would like it packaged so I can get a real idea of postage costs.

Slowly starting to unbox them all have sold a few to a dealer for $50 aud boxed and $25aud unboxed but came across this one today its the 53 aston martin and standard as far as colour etc. goes but obviously the stamp was not perfect that day if you look at the side door. Any idea what this could be worth as a one off, complete with mint box? I doubt there would be many like it and you can see its been originally painted over the problem area.

Looking at how badly cast this one is I would think it is a preproduction that was made before the dies were hardened, You should examine the interior details and see if it is different in any way.

Surely if that were the case, the model should be either non-metallic red or silver?

That is a good point but equally weren't some castings and baseplates stored before painting and assembly?

We don't know if the silver Aston was a pre pro, We have to assume the non metallic red was probably a prototype as no more have been found.
But look at the pics above closely, it is a fresh and crisp casting, wheels and baseplate too, but it is covered in casting flaws.

I was thinking that the silver version was probably another one of those late pre-production colour trials 'leaking' into the first release. Either way, we do know that the earliest castings were painted either silver of non-metallic red. We do not have any evidence for them being painted metallic green (but see below).
If this is indeed an early-stage casting, it could represent one of two things: either an early casting which somehow got mixed in with later castings and so entered the normal production process, or a metallic green pre-production colour trial model.
It will be interesting to see whether there are any internal detail differences.

If the model is in any way different from a normal one it will most likely be to the webs connecting the rivet post to the inside of the body or small modifications to the outside to help the model eject from the dies when it is cast.
