I forgot to add that it helps to keep the model lying flat on a work surface when doing heavy cutting and grinding with the dremel. This will also prevent that flex at the weak points.

This is very much a problem 1:1 auto makers have as well. Chrysler built a couple of prototypes of the new Dodge Charger in a convertible configuration for the big auto shows. They didn't redesign the cars, they just converted a couple of hard top models. At the end of the show season, the two cars promptly went back on the truck and straight to the car crusher.

Mopar enthusiasts were crying about the horrible decision to crush the cars, but it was the only thing they could do as they could not be sold, titled nor could they even be driven and they would have very quickly had serious structural failure (not to mention how unsafe they would have been in an accident).
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

Yep, that is it, that really works, shame Lesney could not make models like these because of the opening doors.

They did and how very brave of them, wonder if they used a stronger mix of metal for those to help with strength!

Thanks Tinman - a commendation by you counts twice :-)

But back to the Topic.
I really like the Mercedes and I will do the same once I found a beater.
Roland one small thing I would suggest to change is the thickness of the window frame.
Sorry I have to write in German because I don´t know how to explain in English.
(Wenn die hintere Kante des Scheibenrahmens dem vorderen Bogen folgen würde sähe das Modell bestimmt noch besser aus)

How about "The model would look even better if the top of the windscreen frame had the same curve as the bottom"?

That wouldn´t be the same as Malibu tried to say ;)

He suggested, to grind the rear edge of the upper windowframe to the same curve that the front one.
