The original displays pop up from time to time at nominal prices so i see no reason to buy these replicas and at high prices. too!

I read an article in this months 'Diecast Monthly' magazine which states that these stands are manufactured using the exact same materials and processes and are identical to the original stands. I would assume then that it would be difficult to determine a modern replica with a mint original. The modern replicas are not cheap at £150 each plus postage.

So the new reproduction stands will have the plastic dry out, become brittle, crack and turn yellow in a couple of years? For that much money, I would expect some UV resistant plastic built to go the long haul.

That's what I thought when I saw the listing but, if you scroll down, you will see that the price is actually three payemnets of £50, i.e. it's still £150.

				yes sneeky way,
since a few months we get emails saying every time that they are almost sell out
I have sent the seller a question via Ebay how to determine this stand from an original genuine stand.
No reply yet
This seems to be the real and genuine thing, so you can compare:

Do you think the Matchbox club can usee the Msatchbox name without alarming Mattel ?

just got a reply from the ebayseller:
Hi Marcel,

Thanks for your email.

The stands are perfect replicas, there are only subtle differences such as colours and the use of modern materials.

They are distinguishable from their original counterparts by the condition they are in as they obviously have not aged, and will not age in the same way.

I hope that helps but do please let me know if you have any more queries.

Kind regards
Gareth

Thank's for doing that Marcel, I guess that what they say is fine for the time being, but what about when these new displays have been out in bedrooms, store rooms and spare rooms with models in them and they are subjected to every Day usage for a number of Years, how will the colours look then, will they then still be distinguishable from original displays, they really should have a permanent label on the base stating when they were made and the fact it is a reproduction by the Matchbox club.
