63c Dodge Crane Truck
63c Dodge Crane Truck
None of the NAMC’s “Catalog of all Series Matchbox Models” (first edition), the AIM “1-75 Series Regular Wheels” catalogue (second printing, 1983), Stannard nor Houghton has any variations not already listed by Nick, and U.K. Matchbox never covered the model.
Re: 63c Dodge Crane Truck
As I have been checking my 63c models, I have discovered a small mistake by specifying the wheel dimension. There is no wheel variation with BPW ø12,5x48 as it is mentioned in the Nick´s list. It should be BPW ø12,5x45 (exactly ø12,35x45). There is one unlisted variation with thin BPW ø12,5x40. The wheels ø12,5x40 are approx. 3,45mm thick and the wheels ø12,5x45 are approx. 4,4mm thick.

There is another unlisted variation with axle braces:
a) small braces
b) large braces

I've often thought some of the modifications, over the years, were nothing more than busy work or "job security."

Re: 63c Dodge Crane Truck
I have a few of these crane trucks and each has No 37 on the topside of the cab glass - given that the model number is 63 does anyone know why there is a mismatch between the two ?
Thanks in anticipation

The cab of the 63c Dodge Crane Truck and the 37c Dodge Cattle Truck are basically the same cab and therefore share the same glazing insert. The Cattle Truck presumably was completed first, so the glazing insert got that number. (More knowledgeable members, please chime in if I have the sequence out of order. )
I Hope that helps.

would it be better to call the braces...short and long vs small and largeDiecast wrote:There is another unlisted variation with axle braces:

Please use a web hosting site (like photobucket) to store pictures so you can post them here, using attachments makes it hard to view the pictures when you have to scroll to see them. Seeing comparisons of models is hard to see with attachments too.

I agree with Dan about the naming of those 'Braces' and assuming a Third brace does not exist, 'Short' and 'Long' seems a better description.Brad Pittiful wrote:would it be better to call the braces...short and long vs small and largeDiecast wrote:There is another unlisted variation with axle braces:
